The GSLRA is particularly concerned about this as we have heard in the last few months that there would likely be a Property Tax hike in Gravenhurst to cover the cost overruns. The President of the GSLRA Doug Wallis, has already been in contact with John Cooper of the Sparrow Lake Cottagers Association who is spearheading a drive to bring all lake associations together to demand action by the town on this. We will keep the membership posted on further developments as they become available.
Doug has also been in contact with Lola Bratty who provided the following words from the Mayor:
“Any allegations made against Dalton of improper charges, additional charges, or inappropriate charges are currently being investigated by the Town. The Town has hired a cost consulting firm who will conduct a review of the project documents, including accounting, all bid packages, the trade submissions and trade contracts. The Town cannot comment at this time, on any specific allegations, until the investigation has been completed. The OPP has also launched an investigation.â€
