Jim Davis attended the 3rd Public Information Centre (PIC 3) related to the Hwy 11 Improvements on February 22nd.
Jim says according to the folks from the MTO, the preferred route for the revisions to the highway (between Washago and Gravenhurst) is for the most part the existing route. The plan is to stay on the existing roadway however, MTO is still committed to a 6-lane controlled access highway. If implemented, the plan would result in the elimination of all of the businesses of the west side of Hwy 11 from Sedore Rd. to Gravenhurst.  The businesses on the east side would remain, but be accessible only by a service road.

The price tag for the study of the 20km stretch of highway conducted by URS on behalf of the MTO is at 3 million dollars and counting! Talk about a lot of money for simply trying to figure out what to do with a highway.
The association and it’s dedicated board of directions is continuing to work with the town, local businesses, and other interest groups to take a strong stand against this unnecessary mega-million dollar project.
Stay tuned, more updates will be posted as they become available!
